Privacy Policy

Nonogram is a picture-logic puzzle game. It is built to be played anonymously — you never create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location.

This policy explains the small amount of data the app does handle so that leaderboards and “someone passed your time” alerts can work, how it is used, and how you can remove it.

Who we are

Nonogram (“the app”, “we”) is developed and operated by an independent developer. For any privacy question you can reach us at Support.

What we collect

Only what a competitive leaderboard needs to function:

• Anonymous device identifierA random ID the app generates on first launch and stores on your device. It is not your hardware serial, phone number, advertising ID, or Google account. It exists only to keep your leaderboard entries and best times attached to you across sessions.
• Display nameThe name shown next to your times on public leaderboards. It defaults to a random name like “Player4821” and you can change it at any time. Please don’t enter personal information as your display name — it is visible to other players.
• Game resultsFor puzzles you solve: which puzzle, your completion time in seconds, how many hints you used, and your finished grid (used to validate the solve). Nothing about how you play is tracked beyond a completed result.
• Push notification tokenIf you allow notifications, the app registers a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can send you a “someone passed your time” alert. You can revoke this in your device settings at any time.

How we use it

• Run the leaderboardsYour display name and best times power the daily, weekly, and all-time boards.
• Keep your progressThe anonymous device ID lets your results follow you between play sessions.
• Send the alerts you opted intoThe push token is used solely to notify you when another player beats one of your times.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the game.

What is public

Leaderboards are a shared, public feature. Your display name, ranking, solve times, and number of puzzles solved are visible to other players. Nothing else you provide is ever shown publicly. If you would rather not appear, choose a non-identifying display name — it is the only piece of your information other players can see.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. Data is processed only by the services that make the app run:

• Our game serverStores your anonymous ID, display name, and results to serve leaderboards.
• Google Firebase Cloud MessagingDelivers push notifications if you enabled them. Your notification token is processed by Google under its own privacy terms.

We may disclose information if required to by law, or to protect the security and integrity of the service (for example, to stop cheating or abuse).

Data retention and deletion

Results and leaderboard entries are kept while the game operates so the boards remain meaningful over time. You can remove your data in either of these ways:

• Uninstall the appThis deletes the anonymous device ID stored on your device. A fresh install starts a brand-new anonymous identity with no connection to your previous one.
• Ask us directlyEmail Support and we will delete your player record, display name, and results from the server.

Security

All communication between the app and our server is encrypted over HTTPS. Access to your session is protected by short-lived, signed tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the data we hold minimal precisely so there is little to expose.

Children’s privacy

Nonogram is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app requires no account and gathers no personal details, it does not build profiles of any user, including children. If you believe a child has entered personal information (for example as a display name), contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
